2024 New York City Artadia Awards
Deadline: April 1, 2024

Artadia chooses to fund artists in cities that demonstrate a commitment to contemporary art. Three artists will receive $15,000 each in unrestricted funds. Open to visual artists who have lived and worked throughout the five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island for a minimum of two years.

The Bayard Rustin Residency at Penington Friends House
Deadline: April 1, 2024

The Bayard Rustin Residency at Penington Friends House (PFH) is envisioned as an ongoing ladder to empowerment for Black Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) working to end Systemic Racism and to create a culture of anti-Racism and intersectional equality in the United States of America. Starting September 2024, it will provide up to one year of room and board to a person who demonstrates a strong project that addresses ending Systemic Racism and who has a necessity to be in New York City for up to one year. The recipient will reside at the Penington Friends House located in NYC’s Lower East Side of Manhattan.

BICA Microgrant
Deadline: April 1, 2024

The Buffalo Institute for Contemporary Art (BICA) is giving out $300 good-faith grant for artists and curators who are realizing a project in the greater Buffalo area. Projects must include at least one public event (an opening, a performance, etc) and take place within three months (in the past or forthcoming) from the application date.

The American Library in Paris Visiting Fellowship
Deadline: April 1, 2024

Created in 2013, the Visiting Fellowship offers writers and researchers an opportunity to pursue a creative project in Paris for a month or longer while participating actively in the life of the American Library. A $5,000 stipend, to be spent at the discretion of the Fellow, is designed to cover travel to Paris, accommodation, and expenses associated with the month in Paris. In addition to the stipend, the Library will connect the fellow to resources and people in Paris that could be helpful to their project.

Fire Island Artist Residency
Deadline: April 1, 2024
$40 application fee

The first residency in the United States exclusively for artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, two-spirit or queer, annually accepts applications for its prestigious and internationally recognized summer program. Now in its 12th season in the secluded beach community of Cherry Grove, NY, an historic LGBTQ settlement of Fire Island, emerging artists will share a live/work space for a four-week program marked by intimate studio visits with, and public lectures by, renowned leaders in contemporary art, scholarship, activism and curation.

Coined in the South: 2024 Biennial
Deadline: April 1, 2024
$40 application fee

Coined in the South aims to bridge the gap between museums, galleries, and studios by showcasing thought-provoking works by the emerging talents of the South. Southern U.S. artists can submit work to their juried exhibition at the Mint Museum in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. Scheduled to run from December 14, 2024, to April 27, 2025, this exhibition transcends any singular aesthetic, theme, or medium, striving to mirror the rich diversity and creative spirit of the southern arts community. Prizes include a $10,000 grand prize, a $5,000 member prize, and a $1,000 people’s choice prize. All artists will receive a $350 stipend to help cover shipping and travel expenses.

The Franklin Furnace FUND for Performance Art
Deadline: April 1, 2024

Initiated in 1985 with the support of Jerome Foundation, Franklin Furnace annually awards grants to early career artists selected by peer panel review to enable them to produce major performance art works in New York City. FUND grants range between $2,000 and $10,000. Artists from all areas of the world are encouraged to apply; however, artists selected by the panel are expected to present their work in New York City. Full-time students are ineligible.

Creative Capital Open Call
Deadline: April 4, 2024

Creative Capital welcomes innovative and original new project proposals in visual arts, performing arts, film/moving image, technology, literature, multidisciplinary, and socially engaged forms. They provide unrestricted project grants which can be drawn down over a multi-year period, bespoke professional development services, and community-building opportunities. Their goal is to fund individual artists creating conceptually, aesthetically, and formally challenging, risk-taking, and never-before-seen projects. Award amounts range from $15,000 up to $50,000 per project.

The Shed Open Call
Deadline: April 4, 2024

Born out of The Shed’s commitment to act as a platform for NYC-based, early-career artists working in a range of artistic disciplines, Open Call selects, fosters, and presents new work. The Shed will support selected projects with a commissioning fee of up to $15,000 of producing stewardship per artist or collective. The selected projects will be presented in summer 2025 (visual art) and in 2026 (live performance) in various spaces at The Shed.

KODA Artist Residency
Deadline: April 5, 2024

KODA is a Brooklyn-founded nomadic social practice nonprofit arts organization focusing on conceptual mid-career artists ingrained in social justice. KODA offers an artist residency program for two mid-career, female-identifying and/or non-binary artists who create conceptual and socially engaged work. Taking place in Governors Island, NY, the Fall 2024 residency will span from August 1-October 31, 2024 with the theme of Mental Health. Selected artists receive studio space, an optional exhibition, $1,000 honorarium, studio visits with art world professionals, and more.

Project Space Residency
Deadline: April 5, 2024

Rooted in VSW’s mission to provide support to experimental photo, film and media art artists, the goal of the Project Space Residency is to provide time, space, and resources to artists so they can create. The 4 week residencies are open to artists at any stage of their career and take place at VSW in Rochester, NY. Project Space Residents receive 24/7 access to a private studio, digital printing equipment and an analog darkroom. They also receive a stipend of $1000, plus $250 for supplies, and a $500 travel budget for those traveling from outside the Rochester region.

The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition Open Call
Deadline: April 7, 2024

Celebrating their 200th anniversary, Brooklyn Museum is hosting The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition. Open to artists of all mediums who have lived or worked in Brooklyn during the last five years (2019–24).

Dexter Jones Award
Deadline: April 15, 2024

The National Sculpture Society’s Dexter Jones Award will grant $5,000 to a sculptor based on an outstanding work of sculpture in bas-relief. The use of figurative or realist sculpture or sculpture that is inspired by nature, is of greatest interest. Open to artists born between 1984 – 2005.

Artist in Residence at The Latinx Project
Deadline: April 15, 2024

The Latinx Project’s Artist-in-Residence program is open to emerging and mid-career artists based in the United States. The selected artist will receive an Artist Honorarium of $10,000 and present a solo exhibition on campus with the option of curatorial support and a public program. The most compelling applications engage with larger contemporary or historic dialogues in Latinx Studies.

Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship
Deadline: April 15, 2024

Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships support early career Minnesota- and New York City-based generative artists who take creative risks in exploring, expanding, imagining, or re-imagining creative practices and experiences; reclaiming or reviving traditional forms in original ways; and/or questioning, challenging, or disrupting cultural norms. Fellows receive $60,000 over three consecutive years ($20,000 each year) to support their time and expenses for the creation of new work, artistic development and/or professional artistic career development.

Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships
Deadline: April 15, 2024

The Poetry Foundation awards five Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships annually. Among the largest awards offered to young poets in the US, the $27,000 prize is intended to support exceptional US poets between 21 and 31 years of age.

Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants
Deadline: April 16, 2024

The Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants will distribute a total of $300,000 in funding—up to $20,000 per project—to support environmental art projects led by women-identifying artists in the United States and U.S. Territories. Selected projects must benefit the public in some way, and are required to have a public engagement component by August 31, 2025.

Mudflat Year-Long Residency
Deadline: April 16, 2024

In 1996 Mudflat began offering a one-year residency position to clay artists. This highly competitive program provides a private studio space at no cost with access to Mudflat’s facility, a monthly materials stipend of $75, a monthly housing stipend of up to $800, and opportunities to teach and sell work. Residency dates: September 1 - August 31, annually.

2024 PASS Open Call
Deadline: April 18, 2024

Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden’s annual open call for the Performing Arts Salon Saturdays (PASS) artist residency and performance program is now accepting applications. Located in Staten Island, New York, this program will support the creation and development of new works in dance, music, theater, and multi-disciplinary performance. Selected artists receive a $1500 residency and performance honorarium.

Strokes of Genius Fellowship
Deadline: April 21, 2024

The Black Genius Foundation’s Strokes of Genius is an open application program that provides artists, curators, journalists and scholars with funding to develop new creative projects. Six fellows will receive a $2,500 grant, feedback support from The Black Genius Foundation Staff, and mentorship support from The Black Genius Brain Trust.

Abbey Mural Prize
Deadline: April 22, 2024

National Academy of Design’s Abbey Mural Prize awards grants to support the creation and restoration of public murals in the United States. The Abbey Mural Prize supports projects with grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000. Open to all artists, architects, designers, as well as arts organizations, community-based organizations, and nonprofits.

EforAll Roxbury Spring 2024 All Ideas Pitch Contest
Deadline: April 25, 2024

EforAll Pitch Contests are lively two-hour events that offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to pitch their business idea to a friendly audience and receive valuable feedback from experienced judges. Business ideas across a wide range of industries are encouraged. The contest is open to early stage for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations. A total of four cash prizes will be given out: $1000 for 1st place, $750 for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place, and a $500 Fan Favorite prize.

Harpo Foundation Grants for Visual Artists
Deadline: April 29, 2024
$15 application fee

The Grants for Visual Artists award provides direct support to under-recognized artists 21 years or older. Awards are made up to $10,000.

Harpo Foundation Impact Award for Native American Art
Deadline: April 29, 2024
$15 application fee

A $25,000 fellowship to amplify the contributions of under-recognized Native American contemporary visual artists. The Impact Award for Native American Art aims to further the Foundation’s mission to expand creative inquiry through inclusivity and equitable representation in the visual arts. Open to visual artists 21 years or older.

Wolfsonian Creative Fellowship
Deadline: April 30, 2024

Wolfsonian’s two week creative fellowships invite artists of all kinds—visual artists, designers, performers, writers, filmmakers, and musicians—to immerse themselves in the Wolfsonian collection and draw visual, conceptual, or storytelling inspiration from its wide range of historical materials. The program is open to creatives with a record of demonstrated accomplishment. Fellows receive a stipend, round-trip travel, accommodations, and access to the collection and collections staff.

The Jacki Apple Award in Performance and Artist Projects 2024
Deadline: April 30, 2024

An annual award given to one New York City-based artist working in performance art. The artist will receive $10,000 to fund projects in performance, media, exhibition, and/or publication. This year, the artist selected must be a mid or late-career artist.

Challenge America
Deadline: April 30, 2024

The National Endowment for the Arts' Challenge America offers support primarily to small organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved groups/communities. Challenge America features an abbreviated application, a robust structure of technical assistance, and grants for a set amount of $10,000. Grants require a cost share/match of $10,000 consisting of cash and/or in-kind contributions. Total project costs must be at least $20,000 or greater.
