apexart International Open Call
Deadline: March 1, 2024

apexart's Open Calls are opportunities for artists, curators, and other professionals to turn their curatorial idea into an apexart exhibition. Winning proposals become part of apexart’s next exhibition season and receive funding and staff support. Open to all creators. Submit a 500-word proposal describing a focused, idea-driven, and original group exhibition.

Locust Projects 2024 Digital Commissions Open Call
Deadline Extended: March 3, 2024

Locust Projects invites local, national, and international artists to apply for the opportunity to propose ambitious multi-layered digital projects that respond to the hybridity and flexibility of Locust Projects’ physical space and various presenting platforms from onsite, galleries, interior or exterior surfaces, on screens, or online. Projects can be new proposals, current works-in-progress, or existing works that need support for their evolution or next iteration. Selected artists receive curatorial guidance, production budget, artist W.A.G.E. fee, documentation, and a live/work residency opportunity.

Jim Henson Foundation Artist Grant
Deadline: March 4, 2024

The Jim Henson Foundation awards grants each year for the creation of innovative new works of contemporary puppet theater. There are three Artist Grants available: Workshop Grants ($3,000), Production Grants ($7,000), and Family Grants ($4,000). All Artist Grants are to be used towards puppetry. Individual artists must apply through a fiscal sponsor.

Interlude Artist Residency
Deadline: March 4, 2024
$25 application fee

Interlude Artist Residency in Livingston, New York, is dedicated to supporting a flourishing practice for visual artists who are actively parenting. Interlude provides residency stays and professional development tailored to the unique needs of these artists.

Augusta Savage Grant
Deadline: March 4, 2024

National Sculpture Society's Augusta Savage Grant is an unrestricted $2,500 awarded to an emerging sculptor who self-identifies as Black or African American. Works inspired by nature are preferred.

CERF+ Get Ready Grants
Deadline: March 5, 2024

CERF+’s Get Ready program provides individual craft artists grants up to $1,000 to conduct activities that will help safeguard their studios, protect their careers and prepare for emergencies. Priority will be given to applications from people who identify in the global majority or as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and folk and traditional artists.

2024 Emerging Curators Institute Fellowship
Deadline: March 8, 2024

Emerging Curators Institute (ECI) supports emerging curators from diverse backgrounds through a fellowship program consisting of in-depth research, professional development, and presentation. ECI aims to foster critical dialogue around curatorial practice and provide opportunities for Minnesota-based emerging curators. Awarded fellows will receive a stipend of $3,000 for participation in the learning cycle, with further funding offered to realize an exhibition or curatorial project in 2025.

The Watermill Center’s Artist Residency Program
Deadline: March 8, 2024
$12 application fee

Located in rural Long Island, this program is process-based and provides artists with the time, space, and freedom to develop their practice in a communal environment that encourages experimentation. Artists-in-Residence receive access to an extensive collection of resources central to The Watermill Center experience: 20,000 square feet of rehearsal/design spaces and outdoor stages; a theater production archive; The Watermill Center Study Library; The Watermill Collection; and The Watermill Center’s ten-acre landscaped grounds and gardens. Open to national and international artists 21+ years of age.

Squeaky Wheel’s Summer 2024 Workspace Residency
Deadline: March 8, 2024

A project-based residency for artists and researchers working in media arts. Open to applicants from Buffalo and across the United States who are seeking resources, time, and support for ongoing projects or the creation of new work. Selected applicants receive $1600 in artist fees and stipends. Non-local residents also receive funds toward their round trip travel to Buffalo and accommodations support. Residency dates: August 16–September 7, 2024.

Soaring Gardens Artists Retreat
Deadline: March 10, 2024

Soaring Gardens Artists Retreat in Laceyville, PA, offers visual artists, writers, and composers, and instrumentalists a quiet country setting for residencies to focus on their creative endeavors. Spaces are available from mid-May to mid-September. Artists are encouraged to apply as a group, although applications from individuals are also welcome.

Open Source The Lot Artist Residency 2024
Deadline: March 10, 2024
$10 application fee

An opportunity for artists to work in The Lot, an outdoor workshop space in Brooklyn, for two months beginning April 15, 2024. One artist will be selected to utilize the space, creating work that engages with the community and themes of sustainability. The artist-in-residence will have a dedicated workspace, a secure place to store materials, and 24/7 access to the space. Artists will be required to present one free public event over the course of the residency (they may work together or present events solo). Open Source will also provide tools and building materials, press outreach and advertising for events, and $1000 stipend per artist/artist team.

Experimental Projects Residency
Deadline: March 11, 2024

The Institute for Electronic Arts' Experimental Projects Residencies are for print and electronic media artists residing in New York State. These one or two-week residencies are supported with an artist stipend, travel-funds, lodging, technology access, certain materials, and technical assistance.

A Studio in the Woods, Replenish Residencies
Deadline: March 13, 2024

Replenish Residencies provides 1-2 week restorative visioning retreats to local BIPOC artists and culture bearers; the heart of New Orleans culture. Open to local (Greater New Orleans Area), BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists and culture bearers who have not participated in an artist residency before. Dates will be scheduled between August 2024 – June 2025. Recipients will be provided with a $1600 stipend, staff support, and an opportunity to have a documentation session with a photographer.

National Endowment for The Arts Creative Writing Fellowships
Deadline: March 13, 2024

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Literature Fellowships program offers $25,000 grants in prose (fiction and creative nonfiction) and poetry to published creative writers that enable recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel, and general career advancement.

BRIClab
Deadline: March 14, 2024

BRIClab is a multi-disciplinary residency program in Brooklyn, NY, created to advance opportunities for visual artists and media makers. All residents receive a $2,500 stipend, mentorship, skills-based learning and professional development, and documentation of their work. The program’s three tracks are Contemporary Art (August 2024–June 2025), Film + TV (September 2024–May 2025), and Video Art (September 2024–September 2025). Applicants must reside in New York City, housing is not provided.

MASS MoCA's Assets for Artists Capacity-Building Program
Deadline: March 14, 2024

MASS MoCA’s Assets for Artists (A4A) provides professional development workshops, coaching, working capital grants, and creative community building for artists of all sorts. They are currently accepting applications for two upcoming Capacity-Building Program cohorts in Pittsfield and Fall River Massachusetts. The 6-month program includes an unrestricted grant of $2,000-$3,000, self-directed and group professional development, individualized support and resources from A4A staff and trainers in service of your creative professional goals, planning tools, cohort events, priority access to A4A’s professional development workshops, and up to 2-3 hours of one-on-one coaching sessions with an A4A trainer in support of your goals. Pittsfield program dates: June–October 2024, Fall River program dates: May–October 2024.

2024 Armstrong Now Artist Residency
Deadline: March 15, 2024

Three exceptional artists will be selected to work with the Louis Armstrong House Museum in-depth, delving into the treasures of the Armstrong archival collection to find inspiration for new works that fuse music, dance, spoken word, and various visual and performing arts. At the end of their residency, artists will present a public performance of their work at the Museum and additional performances may premiere in collaboration with partners throughout New York and beyond.

Texas A&M New Work Development Artist Residency
Deadline: March 15, 2024

The School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts at Texas A&M University will provide the selected artist in residence with $10,000 stipend for living expenses and project materials, on-campus lodging (two bedroom/one bath apartment), shared office space and access to school facilities, including rehearsal and performance spaces, recording studios, visual art studios and technology resources, undergraduate and/or graduate student assistance, and visa support for international artists. Residency dates: September 1–November 30, 2024.

The Feminist Press Call for Papers - No estamos a la intemperie
Deadline: March 15, 2024

This special, unthemed issue of Women’s Studies Quarterly is an open call that asks: Who is missing from WSQ’s discourse and how can the journal remove barriers to those already actively reworlding feminisms? Submissions in all printable media are accepted, including academic articles, memoir, manifestos, literary fiction or other prose, poetry, and visual art.

Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences Works on Paper 2024
Deadline: March 15, 2024
$35 fee for up to 3 entries

"Works on Paper" 2024 is the 26th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences, Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Works on Paper can include but is not limited to drawing, painting on paper, hand pulled prints, photographic prints, digital works on paper, and paper constructions that can be wall hung. The Juror will select 65 artworks to be on display in their spacious gallery. First prize is $1,000, second prize is $250, and third prize is $100, plus three honorable mentions. Exhibition dates: May 18–July 8, 2024.

Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program
Deadline: March 15, 2024

Established in 1967 in Roswell, New Mexico, the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program offers six artists a place to live and work for a year, with a monthly stipend of $1,100 and no strings attached. Artists-in-residence have the opportunity to mount a solo exhibition of their work at the Roswell Museum, and to have an artwork purchased for the permanent collection of the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art.

Lexi Rudnitsky Editor’s Choice Award Competition
Deadline: March 15, 2024

Open to any poet who has previously published at least one full-length book of poems. The winner receives an advance of $2,000.00 and publication of their collection by Persea. Submissions should be at least 48 pages of poetry, which must be primarily in English.

Irene Yamamoto Arts Writers Fellowship
Deadline: March 17, 2024

The 2024 Yamamoto Fellowship grants an unrestricted $5,000 to two emerging writers of color who write critically about theater, dance, and/or performance art.

Innovate Grant
Deadline: March 21, 2024
$35 application fee

Innovate Grant distributes two $1,800.00 grants each quarter, to one Visual Artist and one Photographer.

Asian American Arts Alliance, 2024 Jadin Wong Fellowship in Dance
Deadline: March 25, 2024

This eight-month fellowship will award $7,500 to an emerging NYC-based Asian American dance artist who seeks to make an impact on the Asian American community. The fellowship includes artistic mentorship with an established or mid-career dance professional, leadership coaching, and a range of technical support. Applicants must be of Asian heritage, 30 years of age or younger, not currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student, a resident of New York City, and have at least two years of experience in presented dance. Residency dates: May–December 2024.

Asian American Arts Alliance, 2024 Van Lier Fellowship in Theater
Deadline: March 25, 2024

This eight-month fellowship will award $7,500 each to two NYC-based Asian American theater artists who seek to make an impact on the Asian American community. The fellowship includes artistic mentorship with an established or mid-career theater arts professional, leadership coaching, and a range of technical support. Applicants must be of Asian heritage, 30 years of age or younger, not currently enrolled as a full-time or part-time student, and a resident of New York City. Residency dates: May–December 2024.

New York Public Library Picture Collection Artist Fellowship
Deadline: March 29, 2024

This fellowship supports artists or scholars engaged in the research, development, and/or execution of a new creative or scholarly work based on the Collection’s holdings. It allows dedicated access to the Collection and guidance from its staff with the goal of highlighting the Collection’s distinctive attributes. Stipends are awarded on a sliding scale from $2,000 to $5,000.
